Home network checklist
- Unique admin and Wi-Fi passwords
- WPA2 or WPA3 turned on
- WPS and remote admin turned off
- Guest Wi-Fi for visitors, if available
Find your router's login address, username and password, then set up Wi-Fi safely in six simple steps.
adminadminWhat to change first: Change the admin password, then the Wi-Fi name and password. Leave the internet (WAN/PON) settings alone; your provider manages them.
Check the sticker on your device first. Login details differ by model, firmware and internet provider, and installers often change them. Replace any default password straight away.
192.168.1.1, not in Google.ipconfig; on a phone open the Wi-Fi network details.Join the router's Wi-Fi or plug in a cable, using the details on the device sticker.
Type the login address into your browser's address bar and sign in.
Do this first, before any other change, so nobody else can sign in.
Use PPPoE, DHCP or static IP exactly as your provider supplied. Most ISP routers need no change here.
Choose WPA2 or WPA3, set a long unique password and turn off WPS.
Run an internet speed test, then store the new passwords somewhere safe.
Connect with the details on the sticker, then open 192.168.29.1. Change only the Wi-Fi name and password; Jio manages the internet settings.
Use the login address on the sticker or in your Wi-Fi network details. Keep 2.4 GHz for range and use 5 GHz for nearby fast devices.
Don't factory-reset a provider's router or ONT until your provider confirms how they will restore your internet, phone (VoIP) and TV (IPTV) settings.
Default login details for 38 routers and fiber ONTs used in India. Reviewed 9 September 2026 against manufacturer documentation; the sticker on your device always takes priority.

Check the router label or your device network details for the default gateway. Common addresses include 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.29.1.
An ONT converts the fiber line from your provider into a network connection; a router shares that connection over Wi-Fi. Many fiber providers supply one box that does both, and its settings are usually managed by the provider.
No. Credentials vary by model, firmware and internet provider, and installers frequently change them. Use the device label and official manual as the authoritative source.
Use a factory reset only as a last resort. It can erase ISP, VoIP and IPTV settings and may require provider assistance to restore service.
Use WPA3 when every device supports it, or WPA2/WPA3 transition mode. Avoid WEP and open networks, and disable WPS unless it is required.
Follow secure login and Wi-Fi setup steps for ONTs and routers used on Zerolink and partner fiber in Gharaunda, Panipat and Karnal — then verify speed after changes.
